If you are a digital scrapbooker you have gotta love the Shabby Princess. What cute, cute digi kits she has over there. I just love them. And you just have to get on her mailing list so you can get notified when she sends out a link to a free digital scrapbooking kit, like this one:

That’s right. Free. No strings attached and it is beee-u-ti-ful! Well, gotta go so I can get mine downloaded. Hurry over, she won’t leave it up forever.

Remember, get on her mail list while you’re there.

I have discovered the wonder of online photo albums! I’ve investigated Flickr before, but it hasn’t really caught me. Something just didn’t “fit” me. A couple days ago I tried Picasa Web Albums and it is safe to say I am HOOKED. I’ve already created two private albums to share with family and friends.

Over coffee this morning I was thinking about what else I can do with Picasa. A digital scrapbooking album came to mind. It is the perfect way to share my digi creations. Here’s my sample album:

If you want to get your own Picasa Web Album (aka Digital Scrapbooking Web Album) you can get it free here.

I just got an email from Jill Davis, the founder of Scrapbook.com. They have a completely new site design and it is, in a word, awesome! They have a new home page, a completely new gallery, and several more upgrades. It is so easy to find your way around now at scrapbook.com. Well worth a visit.

They even have a $15 rebate going right now. You can get it with a $30 purchase. That sounds like a half-off sale to me =:)

Another feature they have (which is not new, but is really cool) is a place where you can create your own web page. It is like MySpace but for scrapbookers. Find it by clicking on the My Place house icon.

Jill, great redesign. Love it!

As for you, I’ll see you at Scrapbook.com…

Since we’re officially in the shopping season (although I am in a great deal of denial about this) I thought over the next littlet bit I would share a few ideas for gifts for scrapbookers.

First up is Angie Pedersen’s Book of Me series of books. She’s offering free shipping and personalized signing of all books. I have to say that I just love the thought of doing “me” stuff around the holidays. After all, the whole season is so busy that it is a nice break to stop and think about my “ME” album. And if that means bringing a friend scrapper into the fold, then so be it.

See ya at Angie’s…

Check out this totally fun little digital photo album you can create quickly and easily on your own printer. My mom thought it was so cute she sent me an email about it.

scrapyourtrip_zoom_album.gif Since I have just been organizing and backing up my digital photos this past weekend I have been thinking about the monumental project of printing out what I want and then doing the big albums with them.

Maybe I should give this a try just to get my feet wet and feel like I made some progress.

Oh, I just thought of something. This would make an excellent teacher gift. Since you get three albums for $24.95 at the Scrap Your Trip store it would be possible to fit these into the budget pretty easily.

Let me know if you’ve done one of these. I’d love to hear how they turn out. When I do mine I’ll update you too.

Just had to share this from my email in box this morning…

Joanne’s is having a big summer sale! Lots of discounts with some scrapbooking items at 50% off. Albums are 30% off and they have a great selection. Plus they have free shipping on orders of $25 or more. I have spotted a couple things I think I just may not be able to live without =:)

Heart and Soul Album.jpg Hot Pink Album.jpg
This Heart and Soul album, for instance, could just be what I’ve been searching for to make into my Friends album. It has that depth of color that reminds me of my friends. And this Hot Pink scrapbook album looks perfect for my daughter. It seems that pink is the new purple and all things hot pink are to be desired. I have to say that I agree, hot pink is pretty cool.

Gotta run. I’m off to virtual shop at Joanne’s. And since I’m saving so much on gas because I’m shopping online, that means I get to buy more, right?

If you are into eyelets and brads you might want to check out http://www.eyeletoutlet.com/. Their tag line is “Because eyelets aren’t just round anymore” How fun is that. I LOVE a good tagline!

One of the categories of eyelets that caught my eye was the Safari Brads. I especially like the giraffes and zebras. What’s your favorite?

Even if you don’t know what a podcast is (don’t worry, you’re not alone) you should head on over to Angie Pedersen’s new podcast - Wholly Scrap! The Scrapbooking Podcast.

SIDE NOTE:
A podcast is like a radio show you listen to on your computer, save to CD or move to your MP3 player. When you get to Angie’s podcast the easiest way to listen is to just click on the grey POD button and it will play right on your computer automatically.

I just finished listening to the first issue of Wholly Scrap! and am very impressed with it. Angie did a great job. In this episode she shares some insider secrets of CHA (Craft & Hobby Association). It is so exciting to know about the new scrapbooking supplies coming out. Then she interviews Angie Warhurst of www.boxerscrapbooks.com.

Very cool. Very fun. Plus you’ll feel very technologically savvy for listening to a podcast.

Nancy over at Inside Scrapbooking has compiled a sneak peek list of scrapbooking stuff that is debuting (as we speak) at CHA. It is pretty fun to take a look and see all the new stuff that’s coming out. Just think, we can do it without our feet aching from walking the trade show floor.

I find the Art Declassified stamps interesting, but I don’t quite understand how to work them. (Guess it is an in-person thing.)

The BasicGrey ribbons are calling to me…

But I have to say that the BasicGrey Hang Ten Collection Pack (pictured here) is my favorite sneak peek. BasicGrey Hang Ten Pack

But wait! The 7gypsies 97% Complete new stuff is a must have too. (Scroll way down on the page to see it.)

Just head over to Nancy’s list and take a peek. Then come back and tell me what you find the most “Gotta-Have-ish”

I saw the greatest idea in the new Top Ten 2006 issue of Creating Keepsakes this weekend. Faye Morrow Bell, who always has such great ideas, suggested creating an Idea Index to keep track of all the creative, fun and gotta-do-it ideas you come across.

She suggested creating a spreadsheet and listing the ideas in it with details as to where to find these great ideas again. Sheer brilliance!

I created a Scrapbooking Idea Index spreadsheet and thought maybe you’d like to grab mine so you don’t have to start from scratch with yours. I also created a second tab to list each source as you use it (so you don’t have to wonder if you have already cataloged something).

A final bit of advice from Faye:

Do not attempt to index five years worth of magazines and idea books in one sitting! Start with this Top 10 issue and build from there.

Thanks, Faye, for the great idea and the solid advice (as usual!).

Here’s my Scrapbooking Idea Index file. It is an Excel spreadsheet file. Feel free to share it with anyone - just don’t start selling it and please leave the credit lines to Faye and me intact. Enjoy!
