In honor of our first snowfall of the season here in Denver (BTW, Go Broncos!), I sought out some fun snow related scrapbook supplies. It reminds me of the time when I was walking through Michael’s and saw a really cool pre-made tag like the one here. I almost bought it because it was so cute. Then, I said to myself, “But do I really need a fancy tag for just some snow?” The next weekend we got 3 FEET of snow right here in Denver. Some folks in the foothills got 7 feet. Shut the whole city down.

As soon as I could get out of our driveway (three days later) I went to Michaels and bought the tag. Now, that snowfall was worthy of a fancy tag!

Fresh Tags-Snow Wonder

I love snowflakes. My sister and I used to catch them on our dark-colored gloves and try to see two that were alike. Never did work…

Making Memories Trinkets-Snowflake

One thing I am really grateful for is that we have all four seasons here in Colorado. In fact, I have on my list of “Albums To Do” a set of Seasons albums. How fun would it be to bring out the Winter album right now just to solidify the season? We could sit around with hot chocolate and reminisce about winters gone by. Then run out and grab some photos for the winter of 2005 - which seems to have started … today.

Here’s a thought. What if you could scrapbook your trip while you were still on it? Choose your favorite photos, journal your trip and share it with your family and friends. You can. Check out these travelouge, travel blog, travel journal sites. Cool idea.

Of course I will still want to come home and put it in a real album too. At least this way I know my journaling will be fresh.

What part of a letter has the highest readership according to direct mail experts?
The P.S.

What page in a scrapbook will have the most impact on your family?
Your P.S. page, of course.

Joanna Campbell Slan Challenges Readers To Create Pages About Themselves

Here’s the challenge: Create your own legacy pages, pages that are expressly designed for us to “leave behind.” You know, direct marketing wizards tell us that the P.S. is the most highly read portion of any letter, so our P.S. pages should be those highly readable pages where we talk about our lives in retrospect, our goals for our families, our reasons for our life choices, our triumphs and disappointments.

The idea comes from Joanna Campbell Slan, author of the new book, The Best of British Scrapbooking and Cardmaking. Joanna has written 6 books for scrapbookers including her original book, Scrapbook Storytelling, which has sold more than 35,000 copies.

The P.S. page concept was inspired by a lady named Sarah who had won a spotlight in the upcoming Best of British Scrapbooking book and was anxiously waiting for its publication to see her scrapbooking in print. She was also battling breast cancer. She did get to see her work in print before passing on, but her husband wished she’d left more of herself behind in her scrapbooks. Thus, the P.S. page challenge.

What will you put in your first P.S. page?

I’ve Been Tagged! Angie tagged me to do the following:

Delve into your blog archive.

Find your 23rd post (or closest to).

Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).

Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions. Ponder it for meaning, subtext or hidden agendas.

Tag five people to do the same.

OK, my 23rd post (on 7/15/2005) was titled Paper Bag Albums and my fifth sentence was:

Does anybody know what a paper bag album is?

Ironically, this is the post that introduced me to Angie in the first place. I had found a paper bag album on One Scrappy Site. Angie saw that I mentioned her site in my blog and commented on it. I suppose the hidden meaning in this is that Angie and I are destined to know each other. I love when connections like that are made and I especially like having a new friend. =:)

As for the hidden meaning in my “does anybody know what a paper bag album” comment. It clearly means to me that I need to explore scrapbooking more. I am pretty much doing the same stuff I have always done. Never strayed from a “real” album. Never altered anything. I am ready to explore. Maybe even do a - gasp! - paper bag album!

Thanks for the tag, Angie. Of course, I read your blog! It is one of my all time favorites!

I’m tagging Carolyn (my first scrapbooking blog friend), Tami (my real world business partner and fellow blogger), Stephen (THE wine guy), Stacy (hey, she’s on sabbatical now) and Shai (she always likes to be introspective).
