Today I logged in at the One Scrappy Site forum and came across a listing from a woman named Jennifer from Colorado. When I read it she mentioned that her paper bag albums were selling well on eBay.
I have to confess - I have never heard of such a thing. So I promptly went to eBay to check it out. Her store site is here so you can see too.
Does anybody know what a paper bag album is? I have seen her photos (and love them) but don’t know what the heck that means. Maybe she’ll pop in here and tell us all.

They are little mini albums made out of - yes, paper bags. In fact, some scrapbook supplie shops now stock little paper bags, just for making these.
Here are a good set of instructions showing you one of the ways of making them.

Thanks, Michelle.
I thought there must be something more to it than that. They sure are cute though. I suppose I would try to find something that is archive material before I put that much time into it. Jennifer’s eBay store said hers were all acide free, etc. so it is possible.

I remember when I first heard about them, I thought, what the..?! Then my Not Your Ordinary Book Club selection for July was–Paper Bag Albums! I have to admit that they’re kinda neat. But I think you need to decorate them very well so that they don’t look too paper bag-y. This weekend I’m going to complete the project for the book club. We meet tomorrow and I’ll try to post my creation some time next week. Be sure to check it out! The book is very good and has some cool samples of what you can do.

First, thanks for checking out my message boards!
And yes, as Michelle and Carolyn mentioned, they are indeed made from paper bags, most often the lunch bag size, though I have also seen examples made from full grocery-sack size, too. The “standard issue” lunch bags I have used test acid-free with my Fiskars pH pen, so that concern is met. However, they are not very ’sturdy’ books, so I wouldn’t recommend this type of book for preservation of family heirloom photos! But they are fun gift projects, and are great for use with duplicate photos, particularly home prints. They are also great for non-photo projects, such as Ten Things I Like About ____ , Rules to Live By, or a favorite quotes project.
R. Lynn Baker, author of The Ultimate Guide to Scrapbooking with Kids, is gaining some notoriety for making paper bag albums — her instructions have been featured on a couple of scrapbooking TV shows, and I think in at least one magazine as well. http://www.scrapbookingkids.com/paperbagdirections.html
I teach a paper bag book class on occasion, a Little Book of Me. It turns out really cute, and everyone’s minds race with ideas of how they want to make their next PB Book. Fun project!

Hi, I see that one of your bloggers, Anie, mentions using a Fiskars ph Pen to test whether a paper is acidic or not. I have a Fiskars ph Pen but don’t really know what to look for. What colour would indicate Acidity?
