Our family goes to a small mountain town each year for the 4th of July. We see a small town parade (kids on bikes, the fire trucks, politicians and the friends of the library with their kazoos), swim, watch fireworks, BBQ - the whole works.
Naturally, we take a ton of pictures and scrapbook them. =:)
One year my mom (you can read more about her here) got each of the kids their own one-use camera. They had a blast taking their own pictures. It was really fun to see what they thought were the most memorable parts of the weekend.
They took photos of their beds, the pool, cars going by on the way home and lots of candid shots of family members. There were no photos of the parade - grabbing the candy being thrown to the kids was way more important to them than getting a good shot of the parade.
We decided to do this every year. And this year I found something else really cool to do when we get home.
PhotoWorks.com has a service that develops your photos directly into a photo book and publishes it. They have a small one that is only $9.95. The kids will have their own book about the holiday. I am so excited to do this.
I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out. Please let me know if you decide to try this too. I’m curious.

You completely forgot to mention your wonderful sister who scrapebooked alone for many years but has not had time to do it with you. Things that make you go “hummmm.”

LOL I gave my then-9yo-son a disposible camera for a week at his grandparents’ lake house. When we had them developed, I discovered I was the proud owner of 24 butt shots. “Photo Priorities” of a 9yo boy!
